An 18 year old South Jamaica Cheerleader, Ashley Evans, has been charged in the murder of actress Nicole duFresne in Manhattan on Jan 27.
duFresne and some friends were coming out of a bar when the cheerleader, her fiancee and some others demanded money from the group and shot Nicole when she asked "what are you going to do, shoot us?"
The answer was yes and Evan's fiancee, a 19 year old Rudy Fleming of Staten Island shot and killed the up and coming actress right there on the street. The gun was then given to the cheerleader, after she rifled through the purse of the dead actress, so she stashed it away at a relatives home in NY.
Evan's mother hopes everyone understands her daughter is under great peer pressure like other kids and her and the fathers recent divorce upset the girl so much.
While I feel for this kid, I can't understand how her and some friends could think this was a fun thing to do on a Saturday night.
If we didn't coddle our athletes and put them on pedestals and tell them they are above everyone else, perhaps we wouldn't see so many horrible crimes attributed to such a small segment of our society.
